    What To Do When Your Digital Door Lock Battery Dies

    Electronic door locks are battery-operated locking devices that run on electronic currents. Unlike your ordinary locks, which you can unlock with bobby pins, your digital door lock is more secure. Instead of keys, it uses a passcode, biometric signature, or an RFID card to access it. The only drawback is that you can get locked out of your home if the battery of your digital door lock dies.

    Here’s what to do if your HDB fire rated door electronic door lock dies:

    1. Key

    Electronic door locks are not 100% keyless. Your digital lock promotion may still offer you a digital lock that can be unlocked with traditional keys. However, these keys are for emergency purposes only, such as if the battery dies or you lost your RFID card or phone that can unlock your digital door lock.

    1. Replace the batteries

    The digital door lock notifies the owner if its battery is nearing life. It could be through a red blinking light or a notification when the lock is connected to a mobile app. The owner should then replace the batteries.

    If the batteries were replaced and left to die, the door lock would be inoperable. Some electronic door locks have a battery compartment beneath the lock housing. It may need a screwdriver to remove the cover and change batteries.

    1. Turn off the system

    You can connect your digital door lock to your existing security system. Although your lock is dead, it is still connected to your system and would trigger the alarm if you try to open it by force.

    You can turn off or disconnect your digital lock promotion from the system to gain access.

    1. Emergency lock override

    This method involves disassembling the case of your lock and disabling it from the inside. However, each digital door lock has different built; and mechanisms, so you need the user’s manual to guide you through emergency lock override.
